Guju, Princess of Joseon (Hangul: 현주 이구지, Hanja: 縣主 李仇之, died March 7, 1489) was a dancer, writer, artist, and poet during the Korean Joseon Dynasty. She was a royalty of Joseon, the eighth daughter and illegitimate daughter of crown prince Yangnyeong and granddaughter of King Taejong of Joseon. In 1470, her husband died, after she while love her's one slaves for nineteen years and born one daughter. In 1488, she was go public to her daughter Junbi's marriage, because unbesought to cash-strapped of own daughters. after her was condemned and executions. == Life == When Guji was a Gisaeng; she was from the Royal Family of the Joseon Dynasty. She was the illegitimate daughter of crown prince Yangnyeong (양녕대군; 讓寧大君〔(조선왕조실록 ) 〕), first son of third king of Taejong of Joseon. but her mother's name is unknown, Guji's mother was a female slave of crown prince Yangnyung and later became Yangnyoung's Concubine. She married Kwon Deok-young (권덕영; 權德榮) in her early years, a lesser official of Joseon Dynasty's government. Guji was go to also living in Gwangju, her husband's hometown. They had two sons. Guji was long time love to her's one slaves, Chunrye. After Kwon's death in 1470, she could not remarry due to the 'Law Prohibition of Widow Remarriage',〔과부재가금지법 (寡婦再嫁禁止法)〕 then a common law of Korea. Instead of remarrying, she cohabited with her husband's slave ;Chunrye(천례; 天禮);〔 there was one daughter, Junbi (준비; 准非).〔(양녕 대군 이제의 딸 이씨가 종 천례와 사통한 일을 분간하여 풀어주게 하다 )〕 After her husband's (Kwon Deok-young), death, she became a dancer and poet. That was a social shock since she was the granddaughter of King Taejong. Joseon dynasty's law was prohibition of marriage with another class position, but Guji was long time love and marriage to one slaves of oneself. Guji was keep a secret, but gossiped. also It has spread to the allegations, it gossip was meet the ear of her half nephew, Haklimjeong Yi Yi;(학림정 이이; 鶴林正 李頤),〔(밀성군 이침 등이 권덕영 아내의 간통 풍문의 실정을 조사하도록 청하다 )〕 in december 1475. However that gossip was hushed up at the request of the king Seongjeong. In 1488, Guji's daughter Junbi was age 18, Guji was give one's daughter away in marriage.〔 so Guji was undesirable to always having money trouble for her daughter Junbi, Guji was voluntary exposure to one's family. In 1489, Guji and Chunrye was arrest to Saheonbu(사헌부 ; 司憲府), they was brutally tortured and Chunrye was torture resulting in death.
